The Oklahoma Kidz Charities has announced the 16th annual Mark Harmon Celebrity Weekend will take pace on June 17 and 18.
“MH 16” weekend fun will begin at 6 p.m. with a Celebrity Bowling Night on Friday at the AMF Boulevard Lanes, 3501 South Boulevard, in Edmond.
The evening will feature live and silent auctions, a backyard BBQ and live music.
In addition to film and television actor Mark Harmon, of NCIS fame, players from the Mark Harmon Bombers Amateur Sports team will include Bombers’ manager Barry Axelrod, Peter Dubrawski, Ed Galigher, Mickey Hatcher, Mark Heydorff, Steve Klause, Brad Lyman,
Other teammates participating are Don Manning, Frank Marshall, Deacon Nauslar, Chuck Olsen, Jim Peterson, Jim Ryan, John Sciarra, Rick Sutcliffe, Rusty Van Dam and Scott Wedman.
A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Oklahoma Kidz Charities mission is to support other non-profit organizations in Oklahoma whose values include enriching the lives of children, scholastic leadership, academic excellence, and mentoring, as well as providing health care assistance to children.
On Saturday, June 18, the newest addition to this year’s agenda, Celebrity Topgolf, will take place at 13313 N. Pawnee Drive, in Oklahoma City. Topgolf uses real clubs to hit regular golf balls onto its state-of-the-art outfield.
“This is an event you will want to attend,” said Mary Blankenship Pointer, OK Kidz Charities Celebrity Weekend co-chair. “Enjoy an afternoon swinging a club rather than a bat. We will be keeping score, but the kids will be the real winners of this game.”
The goal this year is to raise $500,000 to help Oklahoma’s kids.
Proceeds from the weekend’s events will benefit Kids’ Chance of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma City Indian Clinic Harmony Pediatric Center.
Kids’ Chance works to provide scholarship opportunities for associates, undergraduate and graduate degrees; vocational training; and certifications to children of Oklahoma workers who have been catastrophically or fatally injured in the workplace.
The Harmony Pediatric Center’s goal is to promote and elevate the health status of the American Indian People in Oklahoma.
The host for the weekend celebrity event is Oklahoma Sports Science & Orthopedics, a division of The Physicians Group and comprehensive orthopedic practice in the south metro Oklahoma City area.
In 2001, OSSO invited Harmon as well as some of his friends to participate in a charity baseball game against the OSSO Outlaws. The event has grown into a major fundraiser for Oklahoma Kidz Charities.
“The event was a huge success raising funds for the Children’s Center in Bethany, Oklahoma,” said Pointer. “It soon became an annual tradition. In 2008 a 501(c)(3) was established to expand our mission and the outreach of the event.”
“With your generous support, together we can make an incredible impact of the lives of Oklahoma’s children,” Pointer said. “In advance, we thank you for your commitment to help make a difference. You may also help by contributing items online for the live and silent auctions taking place during the bowling event here.”
Bowling gallery passes are $150 each or $250 for two. Golf passes are $1,000 each, which gets you into TopGolf to play or just to watch. Sponsorship levels begin at $2500
quest'anno ci sara' il golf invece del baseball.
