| CITAZIONE Mark Harmon’s Bombers add homebuilding to Mark Harmon Celebrity Weekend From Staff Reports Published: June 24, 2016
Golden Globe and Emmy nominated actor, director and producer Mark Harmon and 20 of his friends joined local volunteers on a home build for Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity June 18 in northwest Oklahoma City.
Harmon and volunteers from Oklahoma Kidz Charities Foundation, Republic Bank and Trust of Norman and GE Johnson Construction Co. worked alongside homebuyer Nikol Boyd and her mother framing the home in the Legacy Estates addition. The single mother, a teacher in Oklahoma City Public Schools, provides for her two sons and handicapped parents.
“Mark Harmon is our favorite actor from 'NCIS.' He totally surprised us! This was not his first time with a hammer. He was working very neatly and he knew what he was doing,” Boyd said. “When someone stopped him to ask him questions while everyone else was working, he said no. What he was doing at that moment was most important to him. He wanted whatever time he spent at the house to be for work.”
Harmon did not want media attention at the time of the work, but was glad to talk about it afterward.

Each year, the team takes part in athletic events to raise funds for nonprofits supported by the OK Kidz Charities Foundation. Despite an already full schedule, the Bombers expanded their reach to help even more Oklahomans this year by partnering with Central Oklahoma Habitat.
“We were here in 2013 and saw the devastation from the Moore tornadoes. That's what ignited our desire to help build homes in Oklahoma,” Harmon said. “So this year we were excited to learn we had the opportunity to work with Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity, and help a very deserving single mother.”
Central Oklahoma Habitat Chairman and CEO Ann Felton Gilliland noted that all the Bombers put on nail belts and worked hard framing the house.
“This was not about a photo op with these guys. They have true servant hearts and you could tell they really enjoyed the experience, even in the heat. Plus, it was just exciting for us to work with someone like Mark Harmon and see how dedicated he was to helping our families,” she said.
Other festivities held June 17-18 included Celebrity Bowling and Celebrity Topgolf events benefiting Kids' Chance of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma City Indian Clinic Harmony Pediatric Center.
“Oklahoma Kidz Charities Foundation is blessed by our long-standing friendship with Mark Harmon and the Bombers,” said Robert Fuxa, event chairman. “We are so appreciative of the community's support of our annual Celebrity Weekend and OK Kidz Charities. We are already looking forward and planning for 2017.”
Boyd added, "Mark said once the house was complete, he and his crew would come back to visit. I asked him, are you really going to come? He said yes. I told him I would cook food for all of them!”
